Crisis Intervention Unit: The Regional Approach to Mental Illness

This presentation will cover the background and evolvement of CIT (Crisis Intervention Team). It will
detail what CIT is, the difference between criminal and mental health cases, stats and graphs to show
what officers are responding to on a daily basis, and information on the regional team that has been
constructed through grants and partnerships with both the federal and state governments and local
organizations. Police Officers face difficult calls every day, however recognizing mental health calls and
utilizing CIT tactics can quickly keep everyone involved safer.
