Poly Trauma Case Studies
Course Objectives
1. Rapidly assess and triage patients using the X-ABCDE approach to prioritize treatment and timely intervention.
2. Control or stop massive external bleeding with direct pressure, wound packing, or tourniquets.
3. Assess and maintain a clear airway, support ventilation, and stabilize the neck to minimize spinal injury.
4. Distinguish when immediate oxygenation or needle decompression is needed for life-threatening tension pneumothorax versus other lung injuries that are manageable in the hospital, not requiring needle decompression in the field.
5. Ensure rapid and effective transfer to Level One trauma centers—“load and go”—to optimize outcomes
