Florissant Valley Fire Protection District's EMS calls continued to climb, but the number of true medical
emergencies did not. Skilled Nursing Facilities are responsible for a large percentage of non-emergent responses, which results in stretching our 911 crews thin and negatively impacting the emergency system as a whole.

Florissant Valley chose to confront this challenge through its Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program.
The district moved from simply responding to calls to holding the facilities accountable to provide the
right care, instead of doing what was convenient.

This session dives into a bold, relationship-driven approach built on accountability, communication,
consistency, and patient advocacy. Learn how data, direct engagement with facilities, and consistent
follow-through changed both expectations and behavior.

From tracking trends and managing high-utilizer patients to implementing an ordinance that financially
penalizes misuse, this program is delivering real results. Fewer unnecessary calls, stronger partnerships,
and better outcomes for patients and paramedics.

This is about ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time and that emergency apparatus are
available for true emergencies, all while giving paramedics the support, purpose, and morale they need
to do their jobs. Registration is limited to 50 participants
