Balancing Act - An Introduction to Children with Medical Complexity
This survey course highlights some of the challenges faced by the Children with Medical Complexity (CMC) community. Atypical baseline assessment, complex pathophysiology, and technological dependence are amongst the addressed themes. After attending the course, the EMS should have an improved ability to articulate challenges facing CMC. They should also feel more comfortable caring for a number of the low-frequency, high-acuity emergencies that beguile the medically complex community.  The course includes case studies and/or introduction to CMC children living in the EMS venue to reinforce teaching objectives.
